Daniel Coronell, Daniel Samper Ospina, Daniel Samper Pizano and Cecilia Orozco interviewed Sergio Fajardo this Sunday to talk about the accusation of charges by the Comptroller’s Office to the former Antioquia governor for his fiscal responsibility to the detriment of Hidroituango. In fact, Coronell published a column this morning in which he presented evidence that Fajardo was warned of several of the problems that the work had been having since 2013.
However, in the final part of the interview, Fajardo was asked about the next presidential elections in 2022, in which he will run as a candidate. One of the topics that the leader of the Citizen Commitment movement was asked about the most revolved around What would she do if she cannot go to the second round and Gustavo Petro and “Uribe’s candidate” agree.
Fajardo evaded this questioning in every possible way and recalled that he is not willing to enter into any alliance with Petro. The most forceful thing that he affirmed was that he has not voted for Álvaro Uribe and neither will he.
Daniel Coronell presented the former mayor of Medellín with a scenario in which in 2022 the second round is between Petro and the Uribe candidate, and asked him: “Would you vote for Gustavo Petro in that circumstance?” To which Fajardo replied: “I do not make those assumptions Daniel, I do not start from those assumptions, there is still a long way to go and I have already expressed my position regarding Mr. Gustavo Petro.”
Coronell was not satisfied with that answer, he countered Fajardo and used himself as an example to make it clear that he would not vote blank again as he did in 2018.
“If you have to choose between the one that Uribe and Petro said, would you vote blank again? I tell you one thing. I voted blank and this is the time to say that, under those circumstances, I would not vote blank again, I would vote against Uribe. Would you vote for Uribe? ”Said Coronell.
Fajardo stated in this regard: “I have not voted for Uribe and I am not going to vote for Uribe.”
The former governor of Antioquia affirmed several times that he would not make any alliance with Petro, in large part, due to the personal attacks that the senator has made on him for many years. In addition, he stated that what he believes is most convenient is that the ‘center’ candidates present themselves for a consultation in March 2022 and that they all go together to the first round with the winner of the same.
