The National Administrative Department of Statistics, DANE, delivered this Friday, September 4, 2020, its figures on deaths from COVID-19 that occurred between March 2 and August 23. For that period, the entity registers 17,803 deaths from the virus and 7,257 from suspected cases.

However, the number of confirmed victims differs from what was delivered by the government for that date, which was 17,316 cases, that is, 487 less than those registered by DANE, a difference that was explained by the lag in the information available for that date. day.

“In the deaths of suspected COVID-19, people 55 years and older concentrate almost 81% and, in terms of confirmed COVID-19, people 55 years and older concentrate 82.6% in the country,” said Oviedo .

Bogotá, with 27%, registers the highest number of deaths due to coronavirus (COVID-19 in the country, followed by the departments of Atlántico 17%, Valle del Cauca 9.3% and Antioquia 7.8%.
