Curfew in Antioquia: Governor announced restrictions until next January 3 – Medellín – Colombia

After meeting with 115 of the 125 mayors of Antioquia, the governor of the department, Aníbal Gaviria, announced that he agreed to implement a curfew to mitigate an increase in covid-19 without affecting the economic reactivation so much.

The restrictive measures start at midnight on Friday, December 11 (that is, at zero hours on Saturday 12) and They will run until January 3, 2021, from midnight to 6 in the morning, every day.

The departmental president clarified that there would be limitation in mobility in the municipalities of these seven subregions: East, Southwest, West, North, Northeast, Bajo Cauca and Magdalena Medio.

The measure does not apply to Urabá or to the 10 municipalities of the Aburrá Valley: Medellín, Envigado, Itagüí, Sabaneta, Bello, Copacabana, Girardota, La Estrella, Caldas and Barbosa.

However, in two of these municipalities each president has taken restrictive actions on his own.

Sabaneta decreed a curfew for minors, starting at 11 at night, a measure that will last throughout the month of December and until January 11, 2021. La Estrella also decreed that minors may not be on the street, but it will be between 12 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Tuesday, December 15 until January 11.

“With this we want to achieve two effects to the maximum simultaneously: one, to maintain the containment of covid-19, send a message to citizens of care, prudence and that they enjoy December with responsibility; and the second effect is to minimize the economy, “Gaviria said.

The governor added that while the restriction measure lasts, those exceptions that have been adopted in similar circumstances will be in force, which have to do with emergency cases, health personnel and those who for work reasons have to travel during restricted hours.

Finally, the departmental president called on citizens not to lower their guard at family gatherings or encourage crowds, and insisted that the proper and permanent use of the mask is necessary, even in family spaces, continuous hand washing and keep your distance.
