Independiente Santa Fe came back from another game and this time came out victorious by beating Cúcuta Deportivo 2-3 on date 11 of the BetPlay League. The cardinal team went from losing 2-0 to winning 2-3.
The game started very badly for the cardinal team because 8 minutes into the match, Dairon Mosquera had to leave to give his place to Jonathan Herrera, who is not a left starter by nature, but knows the position because he has already played there before.
Cúcuta had it clear: he gave the ball to Agustín Vuletich and he served as a pivot for the midfielders. In the first, Matías Rodríguez could not score. But then they repeated the action and Ronaldo Ariza was able to send it to the back of the net with only 14 minutes.
Santa Fe had possession of the ball, but did not generate dangerous actions. What Cúcuta did, which at minute 22 generated an action in which Enrique Serje touched the ball with his hand and the judge sanctioned a penalty. The Argentine Rodríguez changed this action for a goal and celebrated the 2-0.
The interventions that generated the most danger in Chaverra’s goal came through set pieces. From the left sector they charged at medium height, but Serje could not hit her and the ball.
However, at 39, in the midst of the difficulty there was light because Osorio returned to charge at half height and although no one touched it, the ball slipped into the back of the net to go to rest with 2-1 on the scoreboard.
But in the complementary part Santa Fe came out to sweep from the beginning and sought by all means to reach the tie. In the air game he was close after a shot by Torijano that Chaverra saved with two slaps.
And that was the way, so they kept insisting. It was at 58 that in a set piece the Cúcuta did not reject well, so the ball was left to Serje, who put it head into the area and Daniel Giraldo anticipated Chaverra to tap the ball and score the goal he put 2-2 the scorer.
Harold Rivera wanted to give Sambueza more freedom and took Serje off the field to put Mauricio Gómez on the left. That gave the Argentine peace of mind so that a minute later he made a nice individual play in which he faced, took rivals out of the way and finished with great precision to score 2-3.
The goal gave Santa Fe much more tranquility, which has already left its ferocity. Coach Artigas began to make changes and between 71 and 78 he put Jefferson Solano, Cristian Mina, Hernán Burbano and Hector Solano to give another face to his attack.
That helped him to have more control of the ball in even one action. Leandro Castellanos showed that he is one of the best goalkeepers in Colombian football, keeping the ball one on one.
The victory puts Santa Fe second in the standings, in the absence of the rest of the date being played, while Cúcuta will have to rethink his game to maintain the advantage.
