The worst news that could be expected finally came. Through an official statement, Dimayor reported that Cúcuta Deportivo has been disenrolled. Hard time for motilones fans.
This occurred, according to Dimayor herself, for two reasons: opening of the liquidation process and suspension of sports recognition by the Ministry of Sports.
Let us also remember that the Superintendency had given four months of grace for Cúcuta to operate, but with the decision of this Wednesday the final blow was given.
What does disenrollment mean? The Norte de Santander team will not be able to compete in any Dimayor tournament. ie League, Cup or Betplay Tournament. Thus, 19 teams would participate in the first division in 2021.

“The extraordinary assembly of the Major Division of Colombian Soccer – DIMAYOR, held a virtual meeting with the clubs affiliated to the entity.
In relation to this meeting, it is reported that by virtue of i) the decision of the Superintendency of Companies of November 11, 2020, to decree the opening of the judicial liquidation process of Cúcuta Deportivo FC; and ii) the decision of the Ministry of Sports to suspend the sports recognition of Cúcuta Deportivo FC, adopted through Resolutions Nos. 000858 of July 30, 2020 and 001320 of October 28, 2020, the Assembly of Clubs Affiliated to DIMAYOR, decided that, within the framework of the legal consequences set forth in the DIMAYOR statutes, the applicable regulations and in Law 49 of 1993, the disaffiliation of Cúcuta Deportivo FCSA in liquidation of DIMAYOR be ratified. “
