One day after the car bomb that shook Corinto and left 43 injured, including 11 officials of the town’s Mayor’s Office, the official Mario Fernando Herrera of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) was found dead, who had been kidnapped in Caloto, in the same north of Cauca.
The kidnapping occurred on March 26, the day of the car bomb.

The official was illegally detained on the morning of that Friday, at an illegal checkpoint near El Palo, according to the authorities.

The kidnapped was part of a commission of the Prosecutor’s Office from Manizales, and was transported in a truck on the road that connects Santander de Quilichao with Corinto.

The body of the investigating technician was found at the site known as La Trampa, in the rural area of Caloto, in northern Cauca.

A few hours before this news, the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa announced the transfer of his office to Popayán to advance with the investigation into the kidnapping of the official, as well as to analyze what happened with the detonation of a car bomb in the vicinity of the mayor of Corinto also in that department.
