Covid-infected travelers continue to board flights and arrive in Colombia

The general director of Migration Colombia, Juan Francisco Espinosa Palacios, made a strong call of attention to travelers to assume their responsibility in front of other passengers, the airport sector and the country, at the time of undertaking his return trip to Colombia.

Likewise, he indicated, that copies of these behaviors have been certified to the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and the corresponding annotations have been made in the information exchange systems of the Entity, with the purpose that the immigration authorities of the other countries, know the actions of these travelers and the risk they may represent for the country.

The director of Migration Colombia reported that since October 1, the date on which the PCR test for all travelers from abroad began to be required, by instructions from the Ministry of Health, more than 380 travelers have been inadmitted, 34% of them Americans, 16% Venezuelan, 13% Dominican, 8% Mexican and 3% Peruvian.

Regarding Colombian citizens who are arriving no PCR test to the national territory, Espinosa Palacios reported that, Currently, about 48% of Colombians are arriving in the country without this document and recalled that this is a requirement established by the Ministry of Health for all travelers from abroad and that it does not discriminate between nationals and foreigners.

Figures to consider

From September 19 to date, more than 100 thousand travelers have entered the country. Of them, 84% did so during the month of October.

Faced with the cases of travelers who have arrived in the country, being positive for Covid-19, to date 8 cases have been reported, equivalent to 0.008% of total travelers.

Of the more than 380 inadmissible foreigners, 34% are American, 16% Venezuelan, 13% Dominican, 8% Mexican, and 3% Peruvian.

64% of the inadmissions have occurred at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. 26% at the Rafael Núñez de Cartagena airport. 4% for the Ernesto Cortissoz airport in Barranquilla, 3% for the José María Córdova airport in Rionegro and 2% for the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport that provides its services to the city of Cali.
