With the information that is available, the entity said, the vaccination projections for 2021 would be about 20 million people, among which is a priority population.
However, the control body assured, the same Ministry of Health has said that must quickly reach 60 percent of the vaccinated population (about 30 million people) in order to have herd immunity and “control the virus.”
The Comptroller’s Office assured that the Government must generate a “responsible and effective” strategy when planning the budget it needs to be able to acquire and distribute vaccines.

In addition, he said that the field of multilateral and direct negotiations should be expanded so that the country can have other suitable and safe suppliers, in order to have vaccines in a timely manner for the Colombian population. For its part, The Attorney General’s Office formally requested the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, to report on the progress in bilateral negotiations and within the Covax mechanism with the laboratories that produce the vaccine.

Another point that the Attorney General’s Office inquired about is the budget that Colombia has to buy vaccines in the next two years and what are the sources of financing. Finally, He gave the health authorities a period of three days to respond to his request.
