Moderna plans to have between 100 and 125 million doses of your covid-19 vaccine in the first quarter of 2021The vast majority of which will go to the United States, the US biotech company announced Thursday in a statement.

Between 85 and 100 million of these doses will be reserved for the United States and between 15 and 25 million to the rest of the world, said the laboratory. He also reaffirmed that 20 million doses would be available in the North American country before the end of the year.

Moderna has been preparing the supply chain with the Donald Trump administration for months to make sure it can distribute it as soon as the FDA approves it.

For all countries outside the United States, production will take place in Switzerland, at the Lonza group factories.

US officials have said that they plan to distribute a total of 40 million doses by year-end in the country, including those produced by the US-German alliance Pfizer / BioNTech. Some 20 million people would be vaccinated by the end of 2020, since the product is administered in two doses.

Moderna has applied for FDA clearance and the agency’s advisory committee, which is reviewing the complete data from the clinical trial, will meet on December 17. The permission for the distribution of the vaccine is expected shortly after. The FDA meeting to review the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine, which was approved on Wednesday in the UK, will take place on December 10.
