This May 9, the first case of coronavirus was detected in Putumayo. This is an 84-year-old man, in the municipality of Puerto Asís. The man has suffered for years from respiratory problems such as asthma.
The man is under epidemiological surveillance at his home and so far has not presented any complications.
Putumayo had remained until May 9 as one of the country’s six departments with no confirmed cases of coronavirus, and its work to stay away from the virus had been praised.
Among the tasks carried out by the department are full compliance with quarantine and control tasks at all entrances to the department and connection points with other nearby departments that did present cases of the pathogen.
The Department’s Health Secretariat called on the entire population to continue to maintain quarantine and prevention, while they will continue to carry out their controls to prevent more cases from occurring and the departmental health system to be at risk.
In Putumayo it has been carried out and sent to the National Institute of Health for analysis a total of 115 tests, of which 100 were negative, one positive and 14 more are awaiting official results.
