The Attorney General’s Office asked the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (Invima) to explain the reasons why in the country masks in poor sanitary conditions are circulating for sale, which could put the health of the population at risk.

The Public Ministry asked him to report on the surveillance and control he is exercising over the import, manufacture and marketing of masks.

The control body sent a letter to the director of Invima, Julio César Aldana Bula, in which he informed him of a complaint filed by the Association of Device Manufacturers in Colombia.

The document states that, apparently, some batches of masks that were imported from Asia, and others of domestic manufacture, which are in circulation they could have 43 different bacteria, fungi and even animal feces.
