Two weeks ago, an entire family in Santa Marta began to experience its own tragedy due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The dramatic story is told by a man who for fear of social stigma preferred not to reveal his identity.
In pain, he relates that in less than a month he lost his mother, father, brother and uncle.
Compare what this family is suffering as a nightmare that does not end; now a sister and a niece also tested positive.

The first to fall ill was his 90-year-old father 15 days ago; a week later, his mother also presented health problems. A brother and an uncle followed him.
It was a very big helplessness. At first no one knew what was going on. My parents had cough and diarrhea, then we found out that they got worse and died quickly
In the same order that they arrived, the clinic that attended them began to report their deaths.
Anguished, unable to leave his house for fear of becoming infected, he met by death calls from his loved ones.

“It was a very big impotence. At first nobody knew what was happening. My parents had cough and diarrhea, then we found out that they got worse and died quickly,” he said.
The man assures that the four deceased lived in the same house. No one is sure how the virus got into the family; they only presume that it was the uncle, 68, the first infected, since he was the only one who was exposed to the street to shop.
The other two relatives who also contracted the virus, although they present some health problems, prefer to remain isolated in their place of residence.

“They feel that if they go to the clinic they will not come out alive, as happened with the others, so they prefer to hold on at home and hold on to their recovery,” he said.
In Santa Marta, this is the second known case of a family that ends up decimated by the coronavirus.(It may interest you: Mayor in Magdalena does not want to give a market to grandpa who criticized him)
