Given the increase in cases of covid-19 in Antioquia, which continues in a high number of daily cases, the governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria, launched the proposal to the 125 mayors of the department to implement a curfew on the holiday Halloween bridge.

“To take care of the lives of our children and of all Antioquia families, as Governor of Antioquia I will propose to the 125 mayors of the department that a curfew be implemented throughout the region, “Gaviria said.

However, after meeting with the 10 mayors of the Aburrá Valley and with the Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Moscoso, it was determined that there will be no general curfew.

“The idea of the government was that, but the mayors of the metropolitan area opted for a closure to avoid a greater impact on the economy, something we accept,” said the governor, who clarified that these measures will apply to 9 of the 10 municipalities in the Aburrá valley, Girardota being the only one who did not accept the proposal.

The idea was to make a general curfew, but the mayors of the metropolitan area opted for a closure to avoid a greater impact on the economy

So then, a curfew for minors was decreed, from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30 to Monday, November 2, until 6:00 p.m.

Similarly, there will be Prohibition from Friday, October 30 until Monday, November 2 until 11:59 p.m.

The measures also imply the closure of a group of establishments open to the public that will be defined in the decree, which has not yet been issued. This closing will be from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of that holiday weekend.

“Tomorrow we will hold a dialogue with mayors of the 115 municipalities outside the Aburrá valley to agree with them, it will not be easy, to try to unify these measures throughout the department,” added Gaviria

And it is that after the declaration of a hospital red alert, Gaviria indicated that in case of seeing a restrictive measure necessary, it would be agreed with the mayors and not an imposition of the government

At the same time, the departmental president reported that after a previous meeting with the National Government official, a goal was set to reach 1,400 ICU beds in Antioquia, which are currently 1,200.
