The Ministry of Health reported, this November 12, 8,686 new cases of coronavirus in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 52,893 tests were processed, 30,772 are PCR and 22,121 antigens.
The report also indicates that the number of deaths in the last 24 hours is 179. Thus, the country reaches a total of 33,491 deaths since the virus reached the national territory.
Colombia has in total 1,174,012 cases of covid-19, of which 56,254 are active cases and 1,081,691 correspond to positive cases that have already overcome the disease.
Regarding the contagion of covid-19 by cities and departments of the country, Bogotá and Antioquia continue to lead, followed by Valle del Cauca.
There are 1,601 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Amazonas, Antioquia, Arauca, Atlántico, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Boyacá, Bolívar, Caldas, Caquetá, Cartagena, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, North from Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle, Vaupés, Vichada, Guaviare and Guainía.
From Medellín, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, led the 67 Unified Command Post for attention to covid-19 with local authorities, mayors of the Aburrá Valley and representatives of national entities to analyze the actions carried out in the response plan against the virus.
Regarding the situation in the department of Antioquia, the minister pointed out that there are “174,345 cases presented to date, of which there are 10,588 active and 160,459 recovered. 3,298 deaths have been reported in the department ”.
The head of the Health portfolio explained the way in which the pandemic has developed in the country from waves and expressed concern about the relaxation of measures regarding self-care by the population.
“Within the approach to the situation of Antioquia we must understand that there are at least three realities, some municipalities where the perception is that the epidemic peak is already, others -of greater rurality- where there is an impact in the coming days and the area metropolitan area that currently has the greatest impact ”, Ruiz said.
Likewise, Daniel Quintero, mayor of Medellín, spoke of the risomething that comes in december, taking into account the number of susceptibles that still exist in the Antioquia territory.
Quintero explained the importance of unifying measures in all municipalities and establishing campaigns for people to take tests for the diagnosis of covid-19 and maintain isolation.
Regarding the match of the Colombian National Team against Uruguay and the upcoming holiday, he maintained that “The important thing is that it does not become a party”Therefore, it is important to take measures to control the transmission of the virus among the population.
