In the midst of many inconveniences, Junior made a dignified presentation, but it was not enough to qualify for the semifinal of the South American Cup. Amaranto Perea’s team closed a disastrous year for Colombian soccer in Conmebol tournaments.

It is worth remembering that the goal was not enough for the Barranquilla. Although it was 2-2 on aggregate, the Chileans had an advantage by having scored two goals as visitors.
Junior did not despair and appealed to order so as not to suffer in front of a team that as a local had to impose conditions. Both Teo and Borja were continuously looking for each other, while Cetré and Moreno gave breadth to the bands.
In the first half hour of the game, Coquimbo could never attack with clarity. So much so that his only two options arose from specific errors by the junior team, first it was Viera and then Mera.
At the end, the goal options were reduced to zero. Both teams fought more than they played, the dispute for the ball in the middle of the field prevailed and neither wanted to risk more.
The second part showed, at least in the beginning, the same trend. Both Junior and Coquimbo preferred to hold on and attack only when there was a great opportunity. Nothing to risk.
At minute 57, Junior arrived with considerable danger. Borja pivoted for Teófilo who held on and assisted Daniel Moreno. The winger ended up releasing a powerful shot that happened just outside. At 61 ‘, Teo was the one who lowered it and Cetré tried without luck from medium distance.

Four minutes later, Teo changed receiver. The Barranquilla received over three quarters of the court and sent a scooped ball for a Cetré that controlled very well and defined before the departure of Cano.
Unfortunately, the play was canceled out of place. Junior was approaching little by little, but the final stitch was missing.
As the minutes passed, the game began to become more dense and clearly physical. Footballers on the ground, screaming, a lot of physicality, little football and more. Coquimbo sought to get the rhythm of the game.

At 90 + 2 ‘, the Colombian team was close. Very clear opportunity. Mera, who was already as second striker, lowered a ball into the area for Borja that he defined first, but Cano, immense, miraculously saved.
