Colombians with a higher education level are more inclined towards the ideology of the left than the right

In the company Cifras y Conceptos revealed its most recent polymetric survey, that shows a panorama on different topics that have been the responsibility of Colombians in recent months. In one of its points, aspects are evaluated against the elections of 2022.

Respondents were asked: with which of the following parties do you have an affinity? To which the majority responded that they do not feel represented by any political party with 47%. It is followed by the Democratic Center party with 13%, Colombia Humana with 12% and the Green Party with 7%.

Ideological position of Colombians

Cifras y Conceptos consulted 2,570 respondents about their political position and contrasted the responses with information such as age and academic experience.

On a scale of 1 to 6 where 1 is from the left and 6 is from the right, 38% of Colombians were located in box number 3, which would be the center. While 13% were located in box 1 (left) and 17% in box number 6 (right).

But with only three options: left, center and right, 53% of respondents chose the center. While 23% left and 24% chose the right.

Cifras y Conceptos also contrasted this information with the age of the respondents and their educational level. So things, from 18 to 35 years old, 27% said they were from the left, 55% from the center and 19% from the right.

As you get older, the right gains more followers: From 36 to 45 years old, 27% are from the left, 48% from the center and 25% from the right. Finally, those over 46 years of age declared themselves mostly from the center with 48%, followed by the right with 29% and only 17% responded feeling identified with the left.

Regarding educational level, the Colombians surveyed who went through university tend to be more from the left than from the right, according to the survey. 29% said they were from the left while 18% from the right, but the center still won with 53%.

However, the opposite occurs at lower educational levels, such as those citizens who only finished college. Only 12% said they were on the left while 35% were on the right; also won the center with 52%.

President Duque has an unfavorable image of 63%

The most recent survey published by Polimétrica showed that the image of the president of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez, deteriorated significantly with 63%, a figure that is equal to what it had in August of last year.

According to the survey, Duque’s favorable image stood at 37%, which means that it decreased six points compared to the results of a survey by the same company last April.

Experts analyzed the survey and showed that the president improved his image at the beginning of the pandemic in Colombia. In the fourth month of the year, Duque Márquez achieved 43% favorable image, that figure being his highest point, at least since November 2018.

Does Bogotá disapprove of your management?

One of the outstanding results of the survey is that the capital of the country is the city where the president has the greatest unfavorable image.

The survey also inquired about the perception of Colombians about the vice-presidential formula of Duque, Marta Lucía Ramírez, who has an unfavorable 67%, three points more compared to the results of April 2020.

For this measurement, according to the technical data sheet, 2,570 surveys were conducted in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Villavicencio and Manizales between October 16 and 21.

The study evaluated various aspects of President Duque’s management and the one with the highest rating was international relations with a scant 15%. At this point, it was evidenced that 45% of those surveyed consider that their management in international matters is very bad and 39% believe that it is regular.
