The woman was a 45-year-old bacteriologist from Corozal (Sucre). She had two children and a couple of years ago she had gone to the United States, where she was working as a caregiver for an older adult.

The latter is the mother of Roberto Colón, the man with whom Gómez Mullet married to formalize his immigration status in that country, according to versions of his relatives.

“Today we can confirm the discovery of human remains (…) We are conducting a forensic investigation to determine the identity of the person,” was the preliminary information from the Police Department at 7:39 pm on Friday, March 5.

Hours later, at 2:07 in the morning of this Saturday, the authorities notified that they had arrested Roberto Colón and charged him with premeditated murder in the first degree for the death of the Colombian woman, whose body was buried in the courtyard of the man’s house.

Columbus denied knowing his location

In an interview with a local media a few days ago, Colón had claimed to be unaware of the whereabouts of María Estella and even argued that he was unable to harm his partner.

The Boynton Beach Police Department regretted what happened to the sucreña and sent messages of condolences to her family and loved ones, who have not yet commented on the tragedy.
