Edward Niño Hernández, a 34-year-old Colombian who is only 72.10 centimeters tall, was recognized for the second time as the world’s smallest living man with mobility, the Guinness World Records announced Tuesday.

The Colombian received the new certificate from Natalia Ramírez, representative of Guinness World Records in Latin America, 10 years after having obtained it for the first time.

The delivery took place in Bogotá before Colombia went into quarantine for the coronavirus and on the spot the honoree was accompanied by his family and orthopedist Cristina Suárez.

«I use my smile to conquer the world! I always share my big smile with everyone; that’s my charm. I can achieve everything I set out to do. Everything is possible … The size and height does not matter, “said the Colombian to the world authority in records.

The Guinness World Records first recognized Niño Hernández as the shortest man in the world on April 13, 2010 when he was 24 years old and was 70.21 centimeters tall.

But Niño Hernández lost that position in October of that same year with the Nepalese Khagendra Thapa Magar (67.8 centimeters), who in turn was dethroned by other short Asians who later died, so the record returned to Niño .

Since Niño was recognized with the record for the first time, his history, the bullying of which he has been a victim and the fight of his family to receive good medical attention have been well known in Colombia.

Edward’s family, born on May 10, 1986, knew when he was four years old that his development had stopped and that this condition prevented him from reaching a height similar to that of other children his age.

According to the Guinness World Records, although his parents sought medical help very early, it was almost 20 years until the diagnosis of severe hypothyroidism confirmed why his growth had been affected.

In a video published by the organization, the little man is seen dancing reggaeton, merengue and vallenato, his favorite genres, and dressed in costumes of a professional dancer.

«I want people to know me better so that they see me as I am: big of heart. I win because I have a good smile and good eyes, “said Niño, while demonstrating his talent.

The winner, who confessed that his platonic love is the American actress Megan Fox, added: “I don’t want people to call me ‘dwarf’ because that is bad, that is a bad habit.”
