Since Colombian soccer began to be transmitted through a ‘premium channel’, a lot of controversy has been generated and with the entry into force of the national quarantine this has gained more strength, it is that for many the situation of the country deserves that if the League BetPlay 1-2020 resumes, be televised on a channel that does not require a subscription. In this regard, many versions emerged, however, the Government denied the request to have FPC on open television through a statement by the Minister of Sport, Ernesto Lucena.
Recently, it was said that the ‘premium channel’ was laying off its journalists and presenters, a decision that would be linked to the fact that they would no longer broadcast the FPC. However, there is nothing that has been confirmed and, according to what Lucena said, when football is broadcast again it will be in the same conditions as before.
The Government denied the request to have FPC on open television:
In a interview with the newspaper El Tiempo, the Sports Minister, Ernesto Lucena, cleared the rumors about the alleged intention of returning Colombian football to the open signal:
“It is not true that the Government has made it a condition to spend two football matches on open television to study the possibility of the League restarting.
That’s not true, so far I hear that! ”
Lucena’s words show that the National Government never contemplated that the FPC return on open television, but this will not prevent many people from wanting to do so. We will have to wait to know if at any time Iván Duque and the Ministry of Sport change their position, for now it seems that the BetPlay 1-20220 League returns will be broadcast on the ‘premium channel’.
