In dialogue with Antena 2 of RCN Radio, Éder Castañeda spoke about his past in América de Cali and revealed strong details about a heel injury he suffered in 2018 and still, today, afflicts him.

The Cucuteño defender had two stages with the ‘Red Devils’, he first arrived in 2015 but did not enjoy much regularity, he went to Huila and the following year he returned to get promotion to the first division. He remained in Cali until mid-2018.

Castañeda pointed out that during 2017 “I had an important regularity but I ended up with a cracked heel and then I got a heel infection, that was in the quarterfinals against Junior.” As America advanced in phase, I had to face Millionaires and there “they infiltrated me for the game because they wanted to be on the field more.”

Today he acknowledges that “I did not have a very good recovery, I was rushed to return and it was the fault of both parties.” He also clarified that for the first leg at Pascual Guerrero, “I played with that part asleep” and was accurate in saying that “I never did the injury.”

For this reason, the defender affirmed: “Today I am suffering the consequences of playing undercover, all bodies are not the same and behave differently from medications.”

That day, Castañeda was a starter but he was sent off at the end of the engagement, which is why he lost the return game in Bogotá. Millionaires ended up advancing by a 2-1 aggregate.
