Despite the political, social and economic situations the country is going through, Colombia is the third happiest country in the world, according to a survey carried out by the world association WIN, a leader in market and opinion research.

The study found that, with 77% in their happiness rates, Colombians ranked third among the happiest citizens in the world, same position that it shares with Ecuador.

According to the survey, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan outperformed Colombia and Ecuador with 85% and 78%, respectively. Among the Top is Azerbaijan, with 76%, and Nigeria, with 70%.

Colombians at the same time are 29% optimistic about the current situation in the country, so the world association WIN explains in its study that, in general terms, people prefer to be happy than to be optimistic.

The inquiry, which sought to explore the vision, beliefs and expectations of 38,709 people over 18 years of age, was carried out in 41 countries.

Likewise, North Macedonia is among the countries with the lowest happiness index with -3%, followed by Ghana, with 0%, and Hong Kong, with 7%.

In 2018 Colombia was listed as the second happiest country in the world, behind the Fiji Islands, according to a poll by Gallup International, a survey that was conducted in 55 countries at the end of 2017.
