Colombia continues to climb towards the second peak: this Saturday 11,033 new cases of Covid-19 were reported

The Ministry of Health reported, this October 31, 11,033 new cases of coronavirus in Colombia, which represents an approach to the second peak of the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, 57,243 tests were processed, of which 32,566 are PCR and 24,677 antigens.

The report also indicates that there was a decrease in the number of deaths with 179 reported deaths, while the Ministry of Health indicates that the number of deaths in today’s report belonging to previous days is 151 Colombians. This Saturday the country reached an official total of 31,314 dead since the virus reached national territory.

Colombia came to 1,074,184 infected of which 71,168 are active cases and 969,230 correspond to positive cases that have already managed to overcome the disease.

Regarding COVID-19 infections by cities and departments of the country, Antioquia and Bogotá present the majority of infected this October 31, followed by Valle del Cauca and Tolima.

There are 1,394 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Amazonas, Antioquia, Arauca, Atlántico, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Boyacá, Bolívar, Caldas, Caquetá, Cartagena, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, North from Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle, Vaupés, Vichada, Guaviare and Guainía.

Malaga Hospital opens ICU

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, made a general balance of the current state of the department of Santander against covid-19 and the contributions that the National Government has made to the department.

“Santander has had about 41 thousand cases and is already in a downward phase, but it does not imply that we should not continue to take care of ourselves and protect ourselves. From the Ministry of Health we have given a very important contribution to Santander with 324 fans, 274 monitors and another series of teams that with the governor we have been consolidating into a structured plan, ”said Ruiz.

The minister in turn mentioned the delivery that was made this Friday, October 30, of the first ICU built in the municipality of Malaga – Santander, punctually at the ESE Hospital Regional de García Rovira “which has five intensive care units and eight of intermediate care as part of the intensive care capacity expansion plan that was structured for the country ”.

Ruiz also announced that the allocation for covid projects has already been made under Resolution 750, in which Santander corresponds to $ 11 billion. These projects do not require any co-financing and of that amount, more than $ 500 million were earmarked for additional restructuring works at the Malaga hospital.

Regarding the transfers of bonuses to human talent in health, the minister assured that in Santander “$ 9 billion has already been paid for our workers. This is very important”, he concluded.
