The National Electoral Council (CNE) formulated charges about Humberto de la Calle’s presidential campaign, carried out in 2018.
As EL TIEMPO learned, the decision was adopted last Wednesday by the plenary chamber of the electoral tribunal considering that there would be an alleged violation of the spending caps to which presidential campaigns are entitled.
Apparently, there would be 500 million pesos in advertising expenses that would exceed what is allowed by electoral regulations for candidates to invest in their campaigns.

The next step is that the campaign of De la Calle, who ran for the first presidential round on behalf of the Liberal Party, submit the explanations of the case so that the CNE can later make a final decision.
In the first presidential round of 2018, Humberto de la Calle obtained 399,180 votes, according to the National Registry, one of the lowest results for liberalism in its history.
