This Wednesday it was learned that a lawsuit that reached the Plenary Chamber of the Council of State was not successful, with which the disability and ‘political death’ of Senator Angélica Lozano was sought for being married to Claudia López, who serves as Mayor of Bogotá.

After the ruling issued this Wednesday, the president of the capital spoke through her Twitter account. “Twice we have had to go to the same court, the first time I and the second Angelica, to defend the right to love each other, to marry and also to be citizens and public servants,” she said.

And he added: “Get it! #LaIgualdadEsImparable and our love too! “

The decision

The Council of State rejected the intention of the plaintiff in relation to the loss of investiture, which argued as a cause of disability and incompatibility the marriage of the congresswoman with an official who acts as a civil or political authority.

The Chamber unanimously concluded that there are no conflicts, because one of the officials in question is part of a territorial district (Bogotá), while the other is in the Senate. Another determining factor is that the marriage union occurred after Lozano was elected to public office.
