The publication was made by the president on Tuesday afternoon, citing a statement by the Defense Minister in which he said that the country’s military institutions and the National Police should be strengthened.
This, to “face the ELN, at the [disidencias de las] Farc and all criminal organizations that recognize the participation in recent terrorist attacks in Bogotá and threaten Colombian society taking advantage of the protection of the dictatorial regime of [Nicolás] Mature”.
Carlos Holmes Trujillo added that in the country he must support the Public Force because his men “maintain operations to combat these narco-terrorists who fled from justice” to profit from drug trafficking.
López quoted those words and launched a criticism of the minister in which he asked him if he was acknowledging his failure in office by allowing guerrilla and criminal organizations to settle in the capital cities. This was his trill:
Does the candidate Minister of Defense acknowledge that as a result of his incompetence, he gave the ELN and FARC dissidents re-entry to the cities? Do you recognize that you failed as Minister of Defense? Coincidentally, you only realized your failure in the face of systematic police abuse? https://t.co/aYPP39hyLS

Hours later the official’s reply arrived. Trujillo told the mayor that “the real enemies of Colombia” are those criminals and that it was the duty of the State to turn to legitimate forces to control their criminal actions:
Regardless of what @ClaudiaLopez understand or prefer to understand, government duty and #Public force It is going to a legitimate State authority, within the legal framework, to confront the ELN, FARC and other narco-terrorists in the country. They are the true enemies of Colombia

López also pointed out that Trujillo was acting as a presidential candidate, since it is one of the possibilities of Uribe for the 2022 elections.
Some analysts have even criticized that the minister has neglected his duties by acting as if he were on the campaign and pointed out that he already had a fight with Senator Gustavo Petro in that sense, who is also emerging to repeat as presidential candidate.
And that was precisely one of the arguments of Paloma Valencia, senator of the Democratic Center who wanted to intervene in favor of the government official of Iván Duque:
Has the mayoress candidate already recognized that the Havana agreement allowed the growth of illicit crops to 200 thousand ha and with that, illegal groups continue to be financed? Have you already recognized the thunderous failure of the Havana agreement upon seeing the Farc disagreements? https://t.co/4CGqiw6mMk

Precisely, Trujillo was seen this Tuesday promising operations to capture the FARC dissidents who left the Peace Agreement and rearmed in the jungle.
The government considers that group led by ‘Iván Márquez’, ‘el Paisa’ and ‘Jesús Santrich’ as a criminal gang called ‘Segunda Marquetalia’ and not as a guerrilla with political ideology, as it does recognize the ELN.
