Claudia López arrived at the place where the patrolman Edwin Caro was assassinated (north of Bogotá) and there she made strong statements against some of the Venezuelan migrants.
“I want to say it with the greatest respect and with the call not to generate acts of xenophobia. Most of the migrants are humble people fleeing a dictatorship, but the facts are stubborn, the facts show that a minority of deeply violent Venezuelan migrants kill to rob or kill for a requisition, ”López said at a press conference compiled by Noticias Snail.
López continued arguing his point of view and pointed out that the massive arrival of Venezuelans to Bogotá has caused that, eventually, some who “are a factor of insecurity” also arrive.
“They are a huge factor of insecurity in our city. Bogotá and Colombia need guarantees. Just as everything is offered to Venezuelans, Colombians need guarantees that we can live in peace in our territory, “he said at the press conference held at the point where the uniformed man died on Wednesday.
In the same way, the mayor added that this is not the first time that a murder has occurred in Bogotá that, proven, has been committed by a Venezuelan.
“It is not the first time, and that is why it hurts so much. It happened to us with Oswaldo [Muñoz], in TransMilenio; on that occasion the Police captured the Venezuelan citizen who is being prosecuted and the other fled. There he did go to Venezuela, “he added at a press conference.
Finally, he stated that the authorities will maintain strictness to put an end to the criminal gangs of Venezuelans and Colombians.
“Bogotá will not bow down to anyone, not to criminal structures, neither Colombians nor Venezuelans, who intend to subject our city to this horrible situation like the one that occurred yesterday,” concluded López, at a press conference compiled by Noticias Caracol .
