Clashes and shootings occur in El Codito, Usaquén, north of Bogotá

Although there is no official information from the Police, apparently there are injured people. The riots reportedly occurred after a confrontation between informal transporters and the authorities.

A tense situation exists in the north of Bogotá, in the El Codito neighborhood, located in Usaquén, due to clashes between informal transporters and the Police, in the middle of which shots were heard. Due to the situation, the Police and ESMAD agents had to intervene. Apparently there are injured people.

Although there are still no details of the event, apparently, a confrontation between informal transporters from the El Codito neighborhood would have triggered the riots. “There is a difficult situation in the UPZ of Verbenal and the UPZ of San Cristóbal, around the Simón Bolívar hospital. Apparently there are several injured by the clashes between the informal transporters and the Police, ”said Horacio Estrada, mayor of Usaquén.

Estrada asked the District to address the situation, since, apparently, this is not the first time that problems of this type have arisen. “Those riots had already passed and we had already asked for a consultation table before the Personería, to solve this issue and it has been almost a year since this administration and they ignored the issue. As the SITP does not cover those sites, there are 120 cars that transport 24,000 people and that is very serious, “he said.

At the moment, the Simón Bolívar hospital is cordoned off. It is expected that, in a few minutes, the Police will provide information about the riots.
