The Secretary of Mobility, Nicolás Estupiñán, confirmed to NotiCentro 1 CM & that next year he will begin the process to replace traffic police with civilian agents.

The renewal of this force will begin next year with the incorporation of the first 300 civil agents in Bogotá.

“We will have 3 years to dismantle the Traffic Police, which by order of the Government will pass to surveillance tasks,” said Nicolás Estupiñán, Secretary of Mobility of Bogotá.

The figure of civil agents will be dusted off 23 years later, in 1997 under the administration of Antanas Mockus and after Paul Bromberg this body was dismantled after complaints of corruption and politicization.

“These agents reached a huge degree of corruption, they were totally out of control, not only because of the complaints according to which they asked for bribes, but also because of the lack of authority, in addition, several councilors had their bureaucratic quotas in this force, to return to the agents is a sign that societies do not progress, they go backwards, ”warned Bromberg.
