Fourth day of Novena
Convert from heart
Let’s read the Word of God:
The angel replied: I am Gabriel, the one who stands before God, and I have been sent to speak to you and announce this good news to you. Look, because you have not believed my words, which will come true in due time, you are going to be speechless and will not be able to speak until the day these things happen (Lk 1,19 – 20)
The history of salvation gives us reason for the presence of an archangel, of a divine messenger who came to announce and reveal God’s plan; but also of the difficulty experienced by Zacarías, a man who came to think that this was a misunderstanding, a plan that could not be, since the laws and the forces of nature seemed opposite.
The messenger entered suddenly, without prior notice, to deliver a message that the priest Zacarías never thought to receive and therefore found it difficult to believe, opposing doubt to faith, a doubt that frightened him and left him speechless. It is what can happen to us too
it is difficult for us to understand and believe in another possible life, in another possible city or nation, more merciful, just, fraternal and that cares for creation. A life, city or nation that are a sign of salvation for other towns and cities. There are those who find it difficult to believe in a fruitful Church, the fruit of peace, justice and love in society.
However, for those who believe in the Word of God and, therefore, for those who obey and serve it, many fruits will come, including the change of the family and social environment.
God wants us to not lose hope in the midst of the difficulties that we have experienced this year. Even more, He wants to enliven in us hope in the Christmas for which we are preparing. The Birth of Jesus reminds us that God wanted to enter the history of humanity to lead it towards its fulfillment in the definitive advent of the Kingdom of life, justice and love.
The Lord wants to energize the rhythm of our personal life and of the Church with the strength and light of his Word. Let the Word of the Lord enliven our walk at this time.
