Through her social networks, Laura Camila Godoy made public that her stepfather and her mother were involved in a case of domestic violence against her. It happened on Saturday, August 22, in Bogotá.
Laura, 18, was in a meeting with her aunts, her mother, her stepfather and her brother, who is a minor. According to the young woman, the problem began when she intervened in a scolding that her stepfather was doing to her little brother.
“Almost at 9:00 pm I heard my brother cry. I looked out to see what was happening and saw that my stepfather was on top of him, scolding him. He (my stepfather) was drunk, so there was a conflict at that time because We didn’t think it was (appropriate) for him to talk to her like that when she was in that state, “Laura said in a video.
When the discussion ended, she went with the child to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. The aggressor arrived there, in order to complain about what had just happened. The allegation continued and the beatings began.
“My stepfather threw himself to punch me. Seeing that, my aunt got in and there was a struggle between everyone. I ran out. I went to get my cell phone and locked myself in the bathroom. I was very scared. Sitting in the bathroom, I heard a woman screaming, “added the victim.
When he came out of his confinement, he saw that his mother and aunt had started arguing. “My mom was defending my stepfather,” Laura said. She tried to calm the discussion, but her mother pulled her by the hair.
“For defending myself, I also attacked her. (…) We were all struggling. At one point I felt my hair being pulled. My stepfather grabbed me from behind, dragged me across the floor of the entire apartment, he began to beat my face I was trying to defend myself, but at one point he kicked me or hit me with a fist and I fell to the ground, almost unconscious, “said the young woman.
While all this was happening, the little brother screamed and cried. Apart from the stepfather, the only adult male present at the meeting was an uncle. He was struggling with the aggressor to let him go: “I tried to get up, but he caught me on the floor and started kicking me, punching me, pulling my hair, dragging me.”
Even his last strategy to defend himself was to throw himself to the ground and cover his face. Fortunately, the uncle managed to corner the drunk stepfather and Laura was able to run and hide in the bathroom. She called the police, some friends and her biological father. In the mirror he discovered her face full of blood.
Her dad arrived and took her to the hospital. “They searched me and gave me a disability. On Sunday I made the complaint,” said the woman.
This was not the first time the man had committed a violent act against someone in the family. According to Laura, she has attacked her mother, her aunt, her grandmother and her brother. “Several times complaints have been filed. The police take him out of the house and he comes back the next day. I have been abused for many years, putting up with many things, doing nothing. Even if they are your family, they cannot take away your rights”, the young woman ended in her sense of the story.

After that they sat us down to talk to my mother, her husband, my brother and I, he began to make his comments, saying things that had nothing to do with it, so I stopped him and told him that things were not like that …
