Carlo Acutis was born on May 3, 1991 in London, England, the city where his parents worked at the time. However, A few months later the family moved to Italy, a country where the young man spent his entire life.
According to his parents’ account, Carlo was always a young man attached to God and the Virgin Mary, so after his baptism and with only 7 years, he asked to make his first communion.
Likewise, The young man’s family commented that in life he was interested in the less favored people: he participated on several occasions in soup kitchens.
However, what is truly impressive is that Carlo recorded a video three months before he died in which he predicted his death.
In 2006, Acutis became seriously ill, Doctors diagnosed him with acute myeloid leukemia and he confessed to his mother that he would never leave the hospital again.
14 years after his death, when opening his tomb and to the surprise of many people, Carlo’s body was practically intact.
However, Bishop Domenico Sorrentino confirmed that they treated Carlo’s body with preservation techniques, normally used for exposing the remains of blessed.
His case was so striking that even Pope Francis mentioned him in one of his speeches, pointing to him as a model of holiness in digital times. Finally, on July 5, 2018, the Supreme Pontiff began the beatification process, which will culminate this Saturday, October 10, 2020.
