Captured music teacher. He sexually abused his students with the excuse of helping them improve their singing

He gave the impression of being spiritual, when in reality he was a sexual abuser. That is what was proven of the musician and university professor Leonardo Guevara Díaz, to whom a prosecutor from the sexual crimes unit of the Bogotá Sectional Directorate charged him with crimes of violent carnal access, violent sexual act and carnal access with a person unable to resist.

The 56-year-old professor was associated with 11 cases of victims of sexual abuse in students from different universities in the capital, between 2008 and 2019. The strategy of the bassoonist and lyrical tenor to carnally gain access to some of his students was to deceive them, apparently by offering them help to “unblock their chakras” and thus, according to him, they could sing better, according to information provided by the investigating and accusing body.

“The professor allegedly deceived his students at different universities, telling them that he could improve singing with massages and unblocking chakras”, the director of the Bogotá section of the Prosecutor’s Office, José Manuel Martínez Malaver, pointed out.

What the alleged perpetrator did was summon the students to his house to invite them to have tea, practice exercises related to meditation and, subsequently, suggest that they take off their clothes and put on a dressing gown.

Gown on, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, he made them continue to a room with an esoteric atmosphere, with a stretcher included, where under the excuse of giving massages to the young women, he touched them “from the neck to their private parts.”

“He would meet them at his house, in the Gratamira neighborhood, in the town of Suba, where he took advantage of them by touching them and carnally accessing them”, Martínez Malaver explained.

Those who captured the musician were members of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Prosecutor’s Office, who moved to his home. After the imputation of charges, A judge with the function of Control of Guarantees imposed an insurance measure on him in a prison establishment.
