Amid a chaotic scene, in which protesters entered the US Capitol building, CNN’s Jake Tapper reported that lawmakers sent text messages saying they were “stunned” by the events.
The building is currently under closure.
I’m getting text messages, as I’m sure Dana and Abby are too… Members of Congress, Trump supporters, Biden supporters, Democrats, Republicans are stunned. They have been told by Capitol Police to take refuge in their office. Is it because of a terrorist attack in the United States? It is because Trump supporters are in some cases forcing him into the United States Capitol violently, stopping the constitutional procedures for counting the electoral votes of Joe Biden, the president-elect, “said Tapper.
Representative Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois, tweeted calling it an “attempted coup.” He also denounced the actions of the protesters in a series of tweets and responded directly to President Trump. “You are not protecting the country,” Kinzinger tweeted to Trump.
Mike Pence did not have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our country and our Constitution, giving states the opportunity to certify a set of corrected facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones they were asked to pre-certify. America demands the truth!
