Capture in Armenia of a famous influencer who sold drugs through social networks

Seven people were captured in Medellín and Armenia, among them a recognized influencer dedicated to the commercialization of cannabis foods and who belonged to the criminal gang “Los Académicos”.

There were 19 months of investigation and monitoring by the Police, where it was possible to identify that the organized common crime group sold the illicit product in universities and schools throughout the country and would be the first case of dismantling of this type of gangs at the national.

Those captured are prosecuted for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime, manufacture, trafficking, carrying or marketing of firearms, accessories, parts and ammunition, as well as manufacturing, trafficking, carrying and marketing of drugs and illicit destination of real estate.

The influence

Among those captured is Angélica María Hernández Ramírez, who used her social networks to promote and incite the consumption of narcotic substances, through the sale of food products such as gums, chocolates and vapers.

Through videos and virtual undercover agent, financial analysis and social networks, the Prosecutor’s Office was able to collect enough probative material and physical evidence that would account for the participation of Hernández Ramírez who, through eight accounts on social networks, allegedly incited people to buy products containing cannabis.

In the videos, the woman consumed and tried to convince people, in particular her followers, to do the same by exposing benefits such as, for example: physical activity enhancer and for this she showed the supposed results in her body. The defendant today, who resides in Medellín, apparently arranged with people in Quindío, who were in charge of collecting the money and sending it through courier companies, to market the products throughout the country.

Among the foods with narcotic substances that he offered were cookies that cost 5,000 pesos. It was established that it sold around 1,000 cookies a day, as well as chocolates and gums for four units at a cost of 50,000 pesos. Also cakes at 8,000 pesos and vapers (smoking devices that work with batteries and contain nicotine, flavorings and chemicals) at 140,000 pesos, among others.

Colonel José Luis Ramírez Hinestroza, Quindío Police Commander, stated that during the 7 raids, two revolver-type firearms were seized, 6 cell phones, three computers, 15 thousand doses of marijuana used to manufacture cannabis foods, 25 cannabic gums, 2 machines for extracting marijuana and cash represented in dollars, euros, Chilean pesos, Mexican and Colombian pesos.
