The Colombian cyclist Diego Camargo (Colombia Tierra de Atletas) managed to maintain the leadership in the ninth and penultimate stage of the 70th edition of the Vuelta a Colombia, a day of mountainous profile and 87.1 kilometers disputed this Saturday between Riomar and Medelln.
Camargo, who donned the leader’s jersey after finishing second in the third stage and defended it with solvency in the time-climb of the seventh stage, overcame today the penultimate obstacle that the mountain pass through the Alto de Minas to stay ahead of the general in order to win the Colombian round this Sunday in Medelln.
With the general classification practically defined, if there are no changes in the last round, Camargo will occupy the first place of a podium that will be completed by the Spanish scar Sevilla (Medelln) and Juan Pablo Surez (EPM-Scott).
The penultimate stage victory took him to the sprint in a small group Juan Pablo Surez, ahead of Scar Sevilla and Germn Enrique Chaves (EPM-Scott), all with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes and 29 seconds.
The Return to Colombia conclude this Sunday with the dispute of its tenth and last stage, of 100 kilometers with start and finish in Medelln.
