The mayor explained that today The stadium is renovated thanks to the improvements to the sports arena, with a new lawn, a dressing room tailored to the needs of the National Team, a ready parking lot and other adjustments that will provide a better environment for the spectators, once the circumstances allow the attendance of the public.

In his statements, the burgomaster announced that The city will maintain that work dynamic, to continue being the home of the Colombian National Team: “We will continue to prepare ourselves to be, every day, a city that welcomes all Colombians, with open arms, and that we achieve this dream of qualifying for a World Cup again from here, from Barranquilla.”

A renovated stadium

The Metropolitano is the only stadium in Colombia with an exclusive dressing room for the Colombian National Team. James Rodríguez, Falcao García and company will enjoy a comfortable space designed by strategist Carlos Queiroz. In addition to first-class finishes, they will debut a warm-up area, the recovery area, the changing room, the teacher’s offices and the centered tunnel as required by Conmebol.

Other works such as the new lawn, two VIP boxes, substitute benches, radio booths and a Media Center, joined the new adaptations of the stage in which Colombia has qualified for five FIFA World Cups in recent weeks. and in which five games of the Copa América 2021 will be played, including the final.

For the mayor Pumarejo, the presence of the national team in the city is an impulse in full reactivation: “The return of the Colombian National Team to Barranquilla, home, occurs at a time when the city is reactivated not only in sport with a stadium at the best of the continent, but economic matter. Today we see a city wanting to recover sectors, but with responsibility in caring for everyone ”.

Control and surveillance plan

Although this Friday’s game will be played without an audience, the District deployed a control and surveillance plan that will avoid, for example, crowds in the surroundings of the Metropolitano stadium as in strategic places where fans traditionally gather to celebrate. This operation will be deployed both on the sports scene and in the five locations.

Clemente Fajardo, District Secretary of Government, assured that The inspectors will visit all bar-type commercial establishments that have authorization from the District to operate, in order to verify compliance with the protocols established biosecurity

Likewise, other offices of the District, such as the Office for Citizen Security and Coexistence and the Ministry of Health have their plans in place to ensure public tranquility during this meeting.

The head of this office, Nelson Patron, indicated that 40 police officers will be regulating and safeguarding the mobility of the national teams in the city.

Regarding the contingency plan for the stadium, the Ministry of Health reported that the yellow alert was decreed for the attention of a possible emergency.
