The former president of Bolivia Evo Morales left Argentina for Caracas on Friday in an official Venezuelan government plane, the official Telam agency reported.

Morales, who had been in Buenos Aires since December as a refugee, departed from the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires at 5:15 pm local time, heading for the Venezuelan capital.

As quoted by the local press, the leader of the Movement to Socialism (MAS) will return to the Argentine capital next Sunday.

Morales announced days ago that plans to return to Bolivia on a date not yet set after the resounding triumph of Luis Arce, his political dolphin, in the presidential elections last Sunday.

Candidate of the party of former President Evo Morales, Luis Arce, celebrated his victory in the first round and assured that with this election day Bolivia returned to democracy.

“My return to Bolivia is not yet scheduled,” he said this Wednesday, October 21, while President Alberto Fernández declared himself willing to accompany him.

Morales resigned from the presidency of Bolivia on November 10, 2019 after losing support from the armed forces amid allegations of fraud.

He first traveled to Mexico and then took refuge as a refugee in Argentina after the election of Alberto Fernández, 10th of December.
