As a measure to help the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic last year, the Bogotá Mayor’s Office will extend the deadlines for the payment of all taxes.

This extension, which will go even until 2022, includes property, ICA and vehicle taxes.

The new decisions take place within the framework of a series of meetings held with the gastrobar, restaurant and hotel sectors. For this reason, the Mayor’s Office decided to postpone the tax calendar for the payment of these taxes and thus alleviate the economic burdens of the Bogota citizens.

“500 billion pesos in tax benefits we are giving to companies and households,” explained Mayor Claudia López.

To obtain the benefit of the 10% discount on the payment of the property tax there will be a deadline until June and this will also apply for vehicles where Bogota citizens can make the payment with this same discount until July.

Likewise, the District provided alternative installment payments for the property tax. Those who cannot make the payment in a single installment and obtain the discount benefit, will have the possibility of paying in four installments from June 30, 2021 to end in January 2022.

The other benefit will be for the sectors most affected by the pandemic such as bars, hotels or restaurants. These establishments will be able to declare their tax this year, but pay it in installments until next year.

“They will not have to pay a penny this year. They pay it in four equal installments next year,” the mayor explained. For these non-residential properties, and that decide to take advantage of the non-payment benefit during this year, the first collection will be made as of February 18, 2022.

According to the draft resolution published by the Ministry of Finance on its website, the announcements include the extension to pay and declare between May 14 and 21, according to the last digit, corresponding to the January-February two-month period of Tax of industry and commerce.

And for the period from March to April of this year, the due date to declare and pay will be between July 12 and 16. For the May-June bimester, from September 6 to 10; for July and August from November 8 to 12, and for the September – October bimester, it will be from December 7 to 13.

And the last period of the year, November and December, must be declared and paid between February 21 and 25.

And keep in mind, such declarations and payments must be made on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

Common regime in the ICA

In the case of taxpayers of the common regime in industry and commerce, whose tax corresponding to the sum of the 2020 term, does not exceed 391 UVT (that is, $ 13,922,337), they will be required to submit a single annual return for said year Taxable no later than January 31 to February 4, 2022, depending on the last digit of the identification.

Thus, the ICA, which previously had to be paid in April, can now be done in May. And the bimonthly reteICA, which was previously paid in March, can now be done in April.

Last January, the director of Taxes, Orlando Valbuena, explained that for around 600,000 the tax will be frozen and for another 2 million inflation will increase. To the lots and some 22,000 of strata 5 and 6 will reach them with increase.

“All these tax benefits are leaving 500,000 million pesos in the pockets of homes and companies. That is an issue that we are subsidizing, the reactivation of homes and companies,” said the mayor.
