The first thing to clarify is that this year there will be no promotions. What will be defined is the 2020 champion, who will have taken an important step to contest the first division of Colombian football in the middle of next year. Cortuluá and Huila are the finalists.
After playing the all against all phase (with the para included due to a pandemic), the eight classifieds were met: Cortuluá, Unión Magdalena, Deportes Quindío, Bogotá FC, Valledupar, Llaneros, Atlético Huila and Leones, in that same order.
These teams went on to play semifinal homers, a distribution that was known by lottery. This phase was played with round-trip matches, and that was how the best of each group were defined.
Cortuluá, who qualified first from home run A, and Atlético Huila, who agreed first for B, will play the final of the 2020 Betplay Dimayor Tournament in a double game. The one who is champion will have taken an important step in his goal of returning to first class.
What will the definition be like?
Cortuluá, who qualified first in the regular phase with 33 points, and Atlético Huila seventh with 28, agreed to the final of the 2020 Ascent Tournament. Both did so leading their respective semifinal homers with 13 points.
The winner of this 2020 will be defined with roundtrip matches, which would be on December 23 and 30, dates that Dimayor will have to confirm. Whoever wins this final will face the winner of the Betplay 2021-I Tournament in what will be the grand final of the B, and that will deliver a direct quota to the 2021-II League. The loser will go to playoffs.
In other words, Colombian football will have two promotions in mid-2021 and a team will fall to B.
When will you get promoted?
In the middle of next year they will face (winner of the final Cortuluá vs Huila) and the champion of the Betplay 2021-I Tournament to keep the ticket to the first division.
The loser of that grand final will play a playoff with the best placed in the reclassification. However, if the first team in the table is the same team that loses the grand final, they will be promoted directly without having to fight for the quota.
