The behavior of the dollar today occurs after a recent downward trend that led it to trade very close to 3,400 pesos. However, the situation in Europe led the currency to turn the trend and is now rising considerably.

This Wednesday, the dollar opened with a price of 3,465, above the 3,444.90 that govern today’s Representative Market Rate (TRM). The currency maintained the trend and reached 3,502.45 pesos, a difference of more than 50 pesos compared to the TRM.

Price of the dollar and oil in Colombia

According to the Colombian Stock Exchange, the minimum value presented by the dollar this Wednesday was 3,455.

The intermediate oil of Texas (WTI), for its part, opened this Wednesday with a rise of 0.64%, to 47.32 dollars, rebounding timidly after the clear losses registered this week due to nervousness around the new variant of coronavirus detected in the UK.

At 09.05 local time, WTI futures contracts for delivery in February they gained 30 cents compared to the close of the previous day, when they had fallen by almost 2%.

Despite the absence of positive news, the market was leaning towards green, with investors showing confidence that the new variant of covid-19 can be controlled with existing vaccines and reassured by decisions such as that of France, which has decided to reopen its borders with the United Kingdom, although it will require a negative test from travelers.
