The beach had been closed for six months and that was why the mayor put on shorts and went into the sea, an action that he showed as an invitation for residents and tourists to go and enjoy with their families.

Of course, Mayor William Dau announced that before entering Playa Azul, several protocols must be complied with, since the personnel in charge had biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Among those measures, according to explained the Secretary of the Interior of Cartagena, stand out the one of making an entrance control, allocating an area that serves as a link, another space for rest, as well as an exclusive area for bathers.

In several photos published by that agency it is observed that parasols are suitable with chairs for six people, and that each of those spaces is enclosed with ties.

Regarding the requirements to enter the beach, the secretariat announced that a reservation must first be made through the website (which by the way has presented failures), and that this process has no cost because it is free.

The newspaper El Universal said that the administration continues to work with merchants to unify a price list, since before the pandemic there were quite a few complaints from tourists who claimed that revivals ‘hit them on the head’ with the costs of the products.

“Making the reservation and getting the module is completely free. Whoever wants to rent chairs and parasols can purchase them at a comfortable price of 17 thousand pesos and it is a standard price. A unified price list is being worked out for all vendors to avoid abuse, ”Dau said in the Cartagena media.

But the local newspaper reported that the rental of the module, the six chairs and the parasol would have “a value of 40,000 pesos” that must be paid in cash, before entering the beach.

Finally, the district administration made a series of recommendations for visitors, as Food or drinks will not be allowed in, only family groups of maximum six people will be allowed, and reservations will be for no more than four hours, in morning and afternoon shifts.

These are some images left on the first day of the reopening of Playa Azul in Cartagena.
