Mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins decreed new public order measures, in order to guarantee responsible distancing, preserve life and mitigate the effects of covid-19 during the end of the year season.

In that sense, through Decree No. 0814 of 2020, a curfew and dry law was issued for Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The president addressed the Barranquilleros and was emphatic in saying that, despite the new restrictions, “lThe most important measure is not taken by me nor by the president, but depends on each of us, because we cannot enter their homes and make other people’s decisions. We insist: avoid family gatherings without biosecurity measures. This is not the time to celebrate with the people who do not live together, but with our family nucleus throughout the year, of maximum 10 people.

Christmas Eve and Christmas

Curfew. The movement of people and vehicles will be restricted as follows:
• December 24th: from 11:00 pm to 06:00 am on December 25th.
• December 25: from 11:00 pm to 06:00 am on December 26.

Dry Law. The sale and consumption of liquor is prohibited from 11:00 pm on December 24 until 6:00 am on December 26.

New Years Eve and New Years

Curfew. The movement of people and vehicles will be restricted as follows:
• January 1, 2021, from 1:00 am to 06:00 am of the same day.
• January 1, 2021, from 11:00 pm to 06:00 am on January 2.
Dry Law. The sale and consumption of liquor is prohibited from 1:00 am on January 1 until 6:00 am on January 2, 2021.

The exceptions

In article 3 of the decree, issued by the Barranquilla mayor’s office, the exceptions to the curfew are specified, including workers from certain sectors of the economy, who must be fully identified; marketing of products and services at home; reasons of force majeure or emergency, among others.
