Barranquilla reports 62 new Covid infections and one deceased

The health authorities confirmed this Thursday 8,570 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia, that adds 990,270 infections, as well as 172 deaths that brought the fatalities of the pandemic in the country to 29,636.

Of the 172 deaths, 153 correspond to previous days, said the Ministry of Health, according to which the deaths occurred in Bogotá (36); Antioquia (29); Valle del Cauca (19); Huila and Santander (11); Tolima (9); North of Santander (7); Boyacá and Cesar (6); Cundinamarca (5), and Cauca and Risaralda (4).

The rest happened in Caldas, Nariño and Quindío (3); Arauca, Bolívar, Córdoba, La Guajira and Meta (2), and Atlántico, Caquetá, Magdalena, Putumayo, Sucre and Vichada (1).

According to the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health, the number of active cases continued to decline and stood at 64,651, corresponding to 6.52%, while that of recovered rose to 893,712, that is, 90.24%.

The biggest infections of the day were registered in Bogotá, with 2,299; followed by the departments Antioquia (1,739), Valle del Cauca (640), Huila (446), Santander (436), Cundinamarca (418), Caldas (312), Tolima (301), Quindío (239), Boyacá (228) and Meta (209).

This Thursday 51,544 tests were processed, 30,840 of them of the PCR type and another 20,704 of antigens, with which 4.61 million tests have been carried out in the country.

The main centers of the pandemic in Colombia are Bogotá, with 304,567; followed by Antioquia (149,191), Valle del Cauca (76,407), Atlántico (70,288), Cundinamarca (39,568), Santander (38,814), Bolívar (31,708), Córdoba (25,753) and Cesar (24,108).

Given the growing numbers in Antioquia, Daniel Quintero, mayor of Medellín warned that in that city “demand for ICU has increased by 36% (intensive care units) of people who have been transferred from other municipalities “.

“From Medellín we call on the mayors of all Antioquia to reinforce the protection measures against covid-19 in each of their municipalities,” the official warned.
