Marta C. González is remembered for being the prima ballerina of the prestigious New York Ballet in the 1960s and 1970s. Half a century later and trapped in the Alzheimer’s, she listened again Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the music made her awaken a whole universe of sensations.

Hearing the ballet piece, the memories returned to the ex-dancer in bursts fired by her rhythmic hands and recreating each step.

The video, published by the organization Music to wake up, is a posthumous tribute to Marta C. González, who died recently, but has left in the founding video, in addition to a work of art, an infinite piece of her memory that Alzheimer’s could not banish.

“One of the most impressive moments that we have experienced since Music for Awakening. Being able to listen to this immense work of art with a person who danced it and was a fundamental part of its history. The power of music is immeasurable. Thanks to life”, wrote those responsible for the organization next to the video that has moved thousands of viewers on social networks.

The recording was made in 2019, in Valencia, Spain, but only so far has it been shared on digital platforms, as a tribute to people with Alzheimer’s, their caregivers, their families and, of course, the immense dancer who now rest in peace.
