The Police carried out operations all night and assured that only on Monday night 118 kilos of gunpowder were seized to people who do not have authorization to manipulate it, and that added to the ban in the country, which left 37 citizens with subpoenas.

The authorities also intervened 30 clandestine parties and sealed 57 establishments for not complying with the requirements or biosafety protocols to serve the public.

Also, 119 people received submissions for not wearing the protection elements and 83 bottles of adulterated liquor were seized in Bogotá.

The emergency lines received 13,941 calls throughout the night of December 7 and the Police attended 653 fights. That number, according to official figures, decreased by 37% compared to 1,039 the previous year.

As for homicides, during the Velitas Day of 2020 in Bogotá there were two cases, a figure that was reduced by three cases in the historic, because in 2019 five violent deaths were reported.

Dozens of uniformed men patrolled the city as part of the Mayor’s Office Christmas Plan that “includes more than 2,000 patrol actions, 4,000 uniformed, operational, control, surveillance and prevention activities throughout the city,” according to the Security Secretariat.

These actions also seek to stop contagion in the city and that is the reason why the usual December night bike path was canceled, which was going to take place this Thursday, December 10.
