Avianca, Latam and Viva Air will have new competition in Colombia

The Civil Aeronautics received four proposals from commercial operators to be reviewed by the Aerocomercial Projects Evaluation Committee.

The first of them comes from Mexico and corresponds to the airline Viva Aerobus, which seeks to provide passenger, mail and cargo services on the Mexico – Bogotá – Mexico route, as detailed by El Tiempo. The proposal includes Airbus A320 and A321 equipment.

Also from Mexico, Volaris wants to operate Airbus A320-233 and Airbus A320-271N equipment to cover the following three routes.

  1. Mexico City – Bogotá – Mexico City (4 weekly frequencies).
  2. Mexico City – Medellín – Mexico City (2 weekly frequencies).
  3. Cancún – Bogotá – Cancún (3 weekly frequencies).

Volaris Costa Rica is the third proposal that Aerocivil received. There are two routes that the company wants to cover: San José – Bogotá – San José (3 weekly frequencies) and Medellín – San José (2 weekly frequencies).

Starblue Airlines SAS, a Colombian proposal, brings a fairly loose package of commercial routes. Its main base of operations, according to La República, would be located at the Palonegro airport in Bucaramanga. The auxiliary base would be at Alfonso Bonilla, in Cali. There are six commercial routes requested:

  1. Bucaramanga – Cali.
  2. Bucaramanga – San Andrés.
  3. Bucaramanga – Santa Marta.
  4. Cali – Cartagena.
  5. Cali – San Andrés.
  6. Cali – Santa Marta.

The international proposals are for:

  1. Cali – Guayaquil.
  2. Cali – Lima.
  3. Cali – Quito.
  4. Bucaramanga – Panama City.
  5. Cali – Santiago de Chile.
