Tourism has been one of the sectors most affected by the covid-19 pandemic. It is estimated that more than 2 million jobs have been lost so far this year.

In order to recover this activity in the main cities of the country, Avianca and Fenalco announced this Monday an alliance to promote the campaign “What you want is Colombia”, a complete tourist guide to invite Colombians to explore the beaches, landscapes and know the culture and gastronomy of the country.

The alliance, which will start with nine destinations, Bogotá, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Medellín, Pereira, San Andrés, Santa Marta and Cartagena, will have offers up to 60% in hotels, restaurants, jewelry stores and air tickets.

“What we are looking for is that the country’s tourists regain confidence and the taste for traveling at really comfortable prices. It is also our goal that bars, restaurants and commerce in general are reactivated. We want to make available all the hotel, gastronomic and transport infrastructure so that more Colombians are encouraged to visit the country, ”said Jaime Alberto Cabal, president of Fenalco.

Juan Diego Zapata, Colombia Sales Director at Avianca, said: “Our commitment is to connect Colombia and that is why air connectivity represents a step forward in the economic reactivation of the country. When Avianca flies, not only its clients fly, but also travel agencies, hotels, restaurants, tour operators and merchants in general. We hope to contribute from our operation so that the entire tourism value chain benefits from this start ”.

Avianca resumed national connectivity on September 1 to 10 destinations within Colombia, and from October 1 it will resume flights to 11 more destinations, to complete a network of 21 cities in the country.

From this Monday, it also restarted international operations with direct flights from Medellín to Miami and New York and from October 1 it will have operations from Bogotá to cities in Brazil, Ecuador, the United States and Mexico.
