They are aliases ‘Cúcuta’, who according to the authorities surrendered to justice and became a key witness. This man told how the massacre of the 8 youths was perpetrated in the Nariño municipality.
His confession was read by the prosecutor in the case at the hearing for the imputation of charges and request for an assurance measure to the other defendants, whose capture was announced by President Iván Duque and the prosecutor Francisco Barbosa, last Thursday, October 22.
In his story, which was collected by Noticias Caracol, alias ‘Cúcuta’, he begins by saying that shortly before arriving at the house they turned off the lanterns and came from behind to the house where the young people were having a party. Then he begins his stark account of the massacre:
“Kevin immediately shoots Patiño with a rifle, I see that he hits him from the front. ‘Fercho’ murders Domeco with a gun to his back, Domeco remains seated at the beginning of the patio. Then I see him struggling with Kevin and Coran; Coran runs out and at that moment Kevin shoots him in the back and he falls down. “
After that first scene described by the man who claims to have participated in the murders, he says that they went to a room to remove the people who were there, since there were at least 30 attendees at the meeting.
Then, after gathering them together, a second moment of shooting is presented, according to another fragment of the confession, quoted by Semana:
“That’s where Pava pushes Campos and shoots him in the back with a rifle. There I shot Sebastián Quintero with a pistol; I don’t know if he was injured before, what I do know is that I shot him on the floor and then Kevin shoots into the air.
There, says the confessed murderer and now a witness, the escape began: “We left walking fast towards the road. It took us about three minutes to get to the main road ”in that area of Nariño.
A van was supposed to pick them up, but the vehicle was not there even when they arrived and instead they did pass other citizens who they intimidated so that they would not tell that they had seen them: “At that moment a motorcycle arrived with a man and a girl, Kevin and Pava returned to threaten them, kicking them and pointing a rifle at them”.
But those two people were not the only ones who saw them, says alias ‘Cúcuta’, because once the driver who was supposed to pick them up arrived, they crossed another car. The witness says that the man who identifies as Kevin shot the vehicle several times, also to intimidate its occupants.
Once all this happened, this man assured that they had to return to the scene of the massacre and told why: “Already when we were at Franco’s house, Pava told Kevin: ‘Marica, we screwed up, you had to kill Camila because she recognized us.’
In addition, he assured that hours later some of his accomplices went to the area to collect some weapons.
At another point during the hearing, the prosecutor in the case affirmed that one of the accused had a strategy to evade justice:
“They were offering him a benefit so that he could register with an indigenous council and thus be able to avoid any handling of his legal situation, because possibly indigenous people never go to a place of detention.”
