The authorities of the municipality of Barrancabermeja, in the border department of Santander, gave the Union Sindical Obrera (USO) a period of five days to dismantle the controversial fence that was installed at the end of September in which the message appears: “ It is not political persecution. He has that number for a bandit ”next to the image of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
The fence installed in Carrera 11 of the oil port, at the corner of the Railroad, which mentions in black letters “We know who gave the order. And in Barrancabermeja we demand justice “, and in which the review photograph of former President Uribe appears, it must be dismantled by the USO or otherwise they must assume legal sanctions, according to the Urban Police Inspector of that city.
This decision was taken after the Planning Secretariat of the oil port certified information to the Barrancabermeja Police Inspectorate, so that the authorities ordered the removal of the fence for not having the regulatory permits by the entity.
“By reviewing the files of the Planning Secretary, it was possible to verify that there is no request for permission to display the fence. (…) There is no corresponding permit for advertising the fence in question and the lack of it is understood as an urban infringement “, mentions the document sent to the USO known by El Tiempo.
The fence refers to the murals installed in Bogotá that had the message “Who gave the order?”, along with the faces of some commanders of the Colombian Army with the figures of the extrajudicial executions that were allegedly committed in their years in command and that were censored.
The Barrancabermeja, in turn, states “Arrested for bribery in criminal proceedings and procedural fraud” and the numeral “QuePareElGenocidio”, below the review number of former President Uribe.
The Third Civil Court of Barrancabermeja declared inadmissible a guardianship filed by a citizen of this municipality, who wanted the controversial fence to be removed from its place, so the advertisement remained on its site for more than a month.
On the other hand, the government party, Democratic Center, had announced his intention to sue the members of the USO for the crimes of libel and slander. On that occasion, the representative to the House of Representatives for Santander Erwin Ballesteros had indicated that free expression was respected but not defamation.
“We are already advancing it within the framework of course that law provides us, to see if there is the possibility of other types of actions to demand the dismantling and the vindication of rights by those who have violated them “Ballesteros assured.
For his part, the president of the USO Edwin Palma Egea, responded to the comments on his Twitter account that “The USO has always been involved in the political affairs that define the designs of an entire Nation. She has always been a defender of peace, of the political solution of the armed conflict and has maintained her classist and anti-Uribe stance “.
