The death of José Miguel Dau David, caused by the power outage at his home, which left him without the oxygen generated by an oxygen machine, has caused commotion in Colombia.

The president, upon learning the story of the 93-year-old man, He said that he was surprised by the callousness with which the company proceeded to disconnect the service, despite the multiple reasons that were given by the Dau family and that there was a claim for the billing issue.
“It is incredible that Electricaribe, in addition to providing a service that has been so deficient, also has this kind of actions and attitudes when previously the conditions of the treatment of the elderly have been explained. We will advise the family so that they feel the support of the Mayor’s Office ”, he said.

The president also asked the Superintendency of Public Services to investigate thoroughly and establish exemplary measures so that a similar situation is not registered.

For its part, the District Attorney announced that it will take legal action, so that the Attorney General’s Office establishes a possible commission of crimes by the company personnel who participated in the procedure.
“The person in charge of classifying this conduct will be the fiscal entity, we will inform all the facts and respectfully abide by the procedure that it has, according to its competence.”, Added the official Edward Orozco.

The Public Ministry stated that with the complaint filed, it expresses its commitment to accompany the terms that are necessary and clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of the patient.
The Superintendency of Public Services reported that Electricaribe must provide detailed information related to the user, its condition, the situation of the energy service account, the claims in process, as well as the procedures carried out before and during the technical visit of its personnel.
It should be remembered that Mr. José Miguel Dau David died hours after Electricaribe suspended the power service to the house where he lived.
